Our Positions

Higher density in all areas

Allow and permit taller buildings in commercial corridors

Linkage fees

Establish commercial linkage fees as well as residential linkage fees to create a city affordable housing fund

Inclusionary zoning

Continue to encourage 15% inclusionary zoning (a density bonus for developers including affordable units) on buildings above 5 units, incentivize inclusionary zoning over in-lieu fee

Less space for cars

Change parking minimums for new developments

Increasing multi-family units in more areas

93% of the land in Los Altos is zoned for single-family residences, so to increase housing, we need to allow more housing in residential neighborhoods including duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes

Clear and streamlined processes for developers

Remove barriers to both subsidized affordable and market rate housing, maintain predictable timelines and processes, establish objective design standards so that subjectivity does not create delay
